Empowering Mala Jewelry

A mala typically consists of 108 beads and an additional bead called a sumeru. With each bead one repeats a mantra. The mala should be held in the right hand with the middle finger and thumb. The purpose of repeating these mantras and using mala's is to preform japa.

Jane Rohr and Janie Viehman brought home the honors of second place for their very stylish Rock and Roll Fairy Dress. It was The Scarab’s first entry in the third Annual Project Funway.  With music backing up the fabulous model Janie Viehman, she rocked the stage with the team’s modern and edgy dress fabricated from silver and black screens that are more often found in doors and windows to keep the critters out than in high fashion.

Creating A Modern Cabin In Vail

What started out as a three-bedroom, top-floor condo with an old school 1970s look is now a modern, four-bedroom condo with flair thanks to architect Russell Gies and Studio 80 Interior Design principal Tracie Schumacher. After Gies transformed the stairwell “air space” adjacent to the homeowners’ condo into a desired fourth bedroom, Schumacher went to work on a “high-modern design with mountain flair.”

These intricate pieces are handwoven in Turkey. They are crafted with very fine strands of sterling silver and gold that are delicately intertwined to create eye-catching designs.

The Mesa Collection Meets Cordillera

Kelli Holtz of Holtz Design Studio works in unison with The Scarab in order to create the perfect space for her Cordillera clients. As the project progresses, Kelli explains, "Sometimes finding the perfect rug is like finding a needle in a haystack.  For this discerning client, the needle was extra small and the haystack was extra large" The prize winning needle ended up being a beautiful navajo inspired design from The Mesa Collection by New Moon Rugs.
