The art of upcycling has continued to become increasingly popular over the past few years. The Scarab loves to find pieces that others have deemed trash and then, turn those once forgotten items into unforgettable treasures. This sofa table is a perfect example of repurposing at its best!

Hand-Made Stuffed Animals

From the tranquil farming community of Njoro comes the most precious hand knit animals around. A group of Kenyan women craft these one-of-a-kind critters by hand. They gather wool from the nearby Kenana Farm then wash and dye the wool with all natural plant dyes. The final step of the process involves the women spinning the wool on old bicycle wheels!

Empowering Mala Jewelry

A mala typically consists of 108 beads and an additional bead called a sumeru. With each bead one repeats a mantra. The mala should be held in the right hand with the middle finger and thumb. The purpose of repeating these mantras and using mala's is to preform japa.

These intricate pieces are handwoven in Turkey. They are crafted with very fine strands of sterling silver and gold that are delicately intertwined to create eye-catching designs.
